Forum Gives Members Of The Public Opportunity To Ask Questions About Heber Valley Parkway

Local officials are holding a community forum on Wednesday evening to answer questions about the proposed Heber Valley Parkway.

The Heber Valley Parkway Community Forum will take place Wednesday evening from 6:30 – 8:30 pm at the Heber City Police Department located at 301 S Main Street.

Representatives from Heber City, Wasatch County, Utah’s Department of Transportation, Mountainland Association of Governments, and Heber Valley Special Services District will all be on hand to address questions and concerns of residents at the informal forum.

Heber residents have expressed concerns about the proposed southern portion of the bypass, which would connect US 40 and 189 via 1300 South while also eliminating a stretch of 189 near the airport. The road would run near some established neighborhoods before coming to a large roundabout near Southfield road.

UDOT, MAG and other government agencies have emphasized that the proposed route is not finalized. The Heber Valley Parkway will not be finalized until an Environmental Impact Study is complete. Local agencies are seeking to secure funding this year for the study from UDOT or the Community Impact Board. Whether or not the funding for the multi-year study is secured should be known by early summer. If funding is not secured officials will seek to have the study funded in upcoming years.
